IBIBONEYE
Certainly! Here’s an overview of the three foundational programs under the IBIBONEYE initiative, each designed to promote sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community empowerment in Rwanda:
- IBIBONEYE HOME Remedy (AMEZA Y’UMWIMERERE)
This program emphasizes the importance of traditional dietary practices and their role in health and well-being. It focuses on:
- Promoting the cultivation and consumption of indigenous crops such as mushrooms, soybeans, cashew nuts, and olives.
- Establishing agricultural zones, nurseries for edible and aromatic plants, and local markets including boutiques, canteens, and restaurants.
- Collaborating with market vendors to distribute these products nationwide.
The philosophy behind this program is that by valuing and properly managing our traditional food systems—from cultivation to consumption—we can enhance our health and become self-reliant in healthcare.
- IBIBONEYE Pionniers (MUMBONI Z’ABO Hambere)
This initiative seeks to preserve and integrate ancestral wisdom into modern practices. It involves:
- Documenting and promoting traditional Rwandan philosophies, cultural practices, and agricultural methods.
- Comparing past and present dietary habits to identify beneficial practices.
- Reviving traditional storytelling, proverbs, and rituals to strengthen cultural identity.
By honoring the knowledge of our forebears, this program aims to enrich contemporary life and ensure that valuable traditions are not lost.
- IBIBONEYE Research & Training Center (Tyaza Ubwenge Duhugurane)
This center focuses on capacity building and knowledge sharing to support the other programs. Its activities include:
- Offering training sessions that bring together farmers and potential buyers, fostering market-oriented production.
- Providing vocational training in areas such as soap making, hairdressing, and tailoring to promote self-employment.
- Conducting research and advocating for institutional support through the Research Development Activities & Institutional Advocacy Department (RDA).
The center’s model, “Ngira Nkugire dusagurire amasoko,” emphasizes collaborative learning and market surplus generation, aiming to boost economic growth and improve living standards.
These three programs are interlinked, each reinforcing the others to create a holistic approach to community development. By integrating traditional knowledge with modern practices, they aim to foster sustainable livelihoods and preserve Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage.

- Development Concept & Partnerships
- Agriculture & Mushroom Project Channel
- Coaching & Mentorship
